Introduction

Dr. Mohsen Mehran, Ph.D., is a nationally recognized environmental engineering expert with more than four decades of consulting and litigation support experience. He specializes in determining the sources, migration, and extent of soil and groundwater contamination; remediation of complex contaminated sites; contaminant fate and transport modeling; and cost allocation among potentially responsible parties.
Dr. Mehran has served as an expert and principal investigator in a wide range of complex environmental legal matters on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Since the inception of CERCLA, he has served as project manager and principal investigator on numerous Superfund sites throughout the United States. Dr. Mehran has taught advanced groundwater hydrology, contaminant transport modeling, and soil mechanics. He has pioneered geochemical testing and modeling techniques to understand and predict the migration of contaminants in groundwater aquifers and fractured rocks. Dr. Mehran earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis. He has been a reviewer of several scientific journals, including Groundwater; Environmental Science and Technology; Water Resources Research; and Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation. He has authored more than 60 technical publications and presentations related to environmental investigation and remediation. He was selected to serve on the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Future Options for Management in the Nation’s Subsurface Remediation Effort, addressing the management of the nation’s complex contaminated groundwater sites.
