
Dr. Michael E. Minev, M.D.

Dr. Michael E. Minev is a board-certified internal medicine physician with over 15 years of experience in primary care, correctional medicine, telemedicine, and utilization review. He currently serves as an on-call telemedicine physician for CoreCivic correctional facilities across California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Georgia, where he provides sick call and chronic care management for conditions including diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart failure, latent tuberculosis, COPD, and neurologic disorders.
Since September 2022, Dr. Minev has served as District Medical Advisor for STG International, reviewing federal workers’ compensation cases under the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act and applying the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment.
From 2018 to 2022, Dr. Minev was Medical Director for the Nevada Department of Corrections, overseeing the medical care of approximately 11,000 inmates statewide. In this role, he led the Utilization Review Panel, revised medical directives to align with community standards, and acted as COVID-19 Emergency Response Coordinator. He continues to consult with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office on litigation matters related to correctional healthcare. His earlier roles include telemedicine physician for Corizon Healthcare/Centurion Managed Care, medical consultant for the Nevada Bureau of Disability Adjudication, and staff physician positions with VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, Healthcare Partners, Southwest Medical Associates, and Spectrum Healthcare.
Dr. Minev completed his internal medicine residency in the Primary Care Track at Mount Auburn Hospital, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Medical School for International Health, in collaboration with Columbia University Medical Center, and holds a B.S. in Biology (magna cum laude) with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
He is currently licensed to practice medicine in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, New York, New Jersey, and Virginia, and is currently board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
