Introduction

Mark Birac is an Automotive Engineer and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) expert with more than three decades of experience working for multiple Tier 1 suppliers, specializing in the development, integration, and validation of ADAS systems. As an expert at Robson Forensic, Mark applies his expertise to forensic casework involving the performance of active safety systems in passenger vehicles, light trucks, and commercial vehicles.

Throughout Mark’s career, he has been involved with the continually advancing technical front of vehicle systems that activate before a crash occurs. In Engineering Director and Chief Engineer roles, Mark oversaw global teams of engineers in design and development of these systems supporting multiple OEM projects from initial concept through mass production launch and post-launch support.

Mark has direct development experience with ADAS systems such as Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and other autonomous vehicle systems that incorporate cameras, radar, LiDAR, and other sensors. He has specialized experience in cameras and driver & occupant monitoring systems, surround view, and the integration of these components with infotainment systems. He is also well versed in ISO, FMVSS, and industry standards and regulations, both domestic and international, that apply to vehicle safety systems.

Mark is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds the Six Sigma Green Belt Certification. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Mark earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Business Administration from U of M’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
