Dr. Kenisha Nisbett is a compassionate, board-certified addiction medicine physician with 5+ years of experience providing evidence-based care for patients with substance use disorders. Her clinical background spans community-based detox/withdrawal management, residential treatment settings, outpatient addiction medicine clinics, and telemedicine-based treatment for opioid and alcohol use disorders. She is experienced in implementing low-threshold addiction care with a harm-reduction focus for vulnerable populations, while supporting treatment planning that accounts for socioeconomic barriers and co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions.
Dr. Nisbett completed an Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California (July 2020–June 2021) after finishing an Internal Medicine Residency at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California (June 2017–June 2020). During residency, she served as Chief Resident/Internal Medicine Resident (July 2019–June 2020). She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine (2013–2017) and also completed a Master of Science in Medical Health Science at Touro University Nevada (TUN) (2013). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Michigan State University (2009), with a specialization in Bioethics, Humanities, and Society.
Professionally, Dr. Nisbett has served as an Outpatient Addiction Medicine Physician (per diem) with Southern California Permanente Medical Group in Moreno Valley, California (July 2021–present). She is also an Independent Contractor—Substance Use Disorder Services/Addiction Medicine Physician with the Butte County Department of Behavioral Health (August 2024–present), providing outpatient addiction treatment via telehealth and in-person services and supervising advanced care practitioners. She previously worked as an Addiction Medicine Physician with Sterling Care Psychiatric Group (April 2024–April 2025) and as Medical Director/Addiction Medicine at UPMedical – Behavioral Health (December 2022–September 2023). From May 2021 to April 2023, she provided telehealth-based SUD treatment with Monument Health & Bicycle Health (per diem).
Dr. Nisbett is board-certified in Internal Medicine (American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine) and Addiction Medicine (American Osteopathic Board). She holds active medical licenses in California, the District of Columbia, and Washington, each valid through October 2026, and maintains DEA X-Waiver (DW/275), ACLS, and BLS certifications.
