John N. Olsofka, M.D., FACS is a Board-Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with over 26 years of continuous, high-volume clinical practice. Actively engaged in surgical coverage and consulting across multiple regional health systems, he provides counsel with objective medical record reviews, standard-of-care evaluations, and expert testimony backed by current, real-world operating room experience.

Dr. Olsofka’s clinical focus is deeply rooted in advanced minimally invasive techniques. He possesses a highly specialized background in advanced laparoscopic ventral and inguinal hernia repair, as well as complex abdominal wall reconstruction. His extensive procedural history also includes:

Bariatric Care: Served as the Director of a Bariatric Surgical Center of Excellence for over two decades, with extensive clinical expertise in Lap-Band procedures and adjustable gastric band management.

Endoscopy: High-volume experience performing both upper and lower endoscopy, including comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic EGDs and colonoscopies.

Anti-Reflux Surgery: Comprehensive management and surgical intervention for severe gastroesophageal reflux.

Gastric Neurostimulators: The surgical placement and management of Enterra therapy devices for complex gastroparesis.

A recognized leader in surgical education, Dr. Olsofka formerly served as a Surgical Course Director for BD Pharmaceuticals, where he formally trained and mentored peer surgeons in advanced laparoscopic hernia repair techniques. He also brings a strong programmatic background in gastrointestinal care, having co-developed a pioneering weekend colonoscopy screening program to significantly expand regional patient access.
