Dr. Derek Ream, Psy.D., M.S.
Sugar Land, TX 77479
I’m Dr. Derek Ream, a Forensic Psychologist and the Owner/CEO of Sugar Land Psychological Associates. I am regularly appointed by courts across Texas to evaluate competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility, and I am also retained privately by attorneys for both criminal and civil forensic evaluations, including personal injury and Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs). In addition, I conduct psychological suitability assessments for law enforcement and security personnel and frequently provide expert testimony to assist courts and attorneys.
My background includes advanced training in neuropsychological assessment, neuro-rehabilitation, and clinical psychopharmacology. I have extensive experience in the VA Healthcare System, where I specialized in suicide and violence risk assessment, comprehensive evaluations, and treatment for individuals with severe mental illness, trauma, substance use, chronic pain, and neurocognitive disorders. Professionally, I have served in academic, clinical, and forensic roles, published and presented in neuropsychology and rehabilitation, and remain active in leadership as President of the Fort Bend Psychological Association, on the Texas Psychological Association’s Prescribing Psychology Committee, and as a peer reviewer for a neuropsychology journal.
