David Benjamin Lazar, MD, is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon based in Los Angeles, California. He currently operates his private practice, David Lazar MD Inc., and has served as a surgeon and investigator for several regional organizations, including Ophthalmology Associates of the Valley and MACRO Trials Inc..
Dr. Lazar’s extensive medical training includes a medical doctorate from Tel Aviv University and a residency at the Louisiana State University (LSU)/Ochsner Clinic Foundation, where he served as Chief Resident. He further specialized through a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Lahey Medical Center/Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston. Since 2017, he has been a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and maintains active memberships in professional organizations such as the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lazar has been recognized for both his clinical and academic excellence, receiving the Resident Excellence in Teaching Award and the Lawrence Planchard, MD Memorial Award for OKAP Excellence. He is a prolific researcher, serving as a Principal Investigator for numerous clinical trials focusing on advanced treatments for neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular edema, and thyroid eye disease.
