Dr. David Lazar
David Benjamin Lazar, MD is a board‑certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery, with extensive experience in advanced retinal diagnostics, surgical management, and ophthalmic research. His work includes high‑level involvement in clinical trials, evaluation of emerging retinal therapeutics, and collaboration with national and international research groups.
Dr. Lazar completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Lahey Medical Center/Beth Israel Deaconess, following ophthalmology residency and chief residency at the Louisiana State University/Ochsner Clinic Foundation. He earned his medical degree from Tel Aviv University and his Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan. He has served as a principal investigator and sub‑investigator on numerous Phase II and Phase III studies involving macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, retinal surgery, and novel pharmacologic agents.
He has authored peer‑reviewed publications, presented at major ophthalmology and retina conferences, and received multiple awards for research excellence and teaching. His professional affiliations include the American Society of Retina Specialists, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
