Daniel Joiner
Daniel Joiner is an Accident Reconstruction Expert specializing in motor vehicle collision investigation and reconstruction. His work addresses a central question in motor vehicle litigation: how did a collision occur, and what does the available physical and digital evidence reveal about the events leading up to and during the crash? He analyzes crash scene evidence, vehicle damage, roadway evidence, Event Data Recorder (EDR) data, vehicle movement, and other available information to reconstruct collisions involving passenger vehicles, commercial motor vehicles, motorcycles, pedestrians, and bicycles.
Daniel’s accident reconstruction experience is rooted in an 18-year career with the Georgia State Patrol, including seven years as a member of its Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT). During his law enforcement career, he investigated more than 2,900 crashes ranging from minor collisions to fatal incidents and responded to, processed, or assisted in the investigation and prosecution of more than 460 fatal crashes. His experience includes serving as the lead investigator in complex fatal collision investigations and assisting other reconstructionists with crash investigation, reconstruction, and prosecution.
After 18 years with the Georgia State Patrol, Daniel transitioned into private-sector accident reconstruction and forensic crash scene documentation. He conducts forensic mapping of crash scenes throughout the United States, performs vehicle inspections, and uses photogrammetry and specialized software to create detailed 3D models of crash scenes and vehicles for forensic analysis. He provides expert consultation, investigation, and reconstruction services in civil and criminal matters for plaintiff and defense attorneys and insurance companies.
His forensic work incorporates technologies and analytical methods including Bosch Crash Data Retrieval, Event Data Recorder imaging and analysis, forensic mapping, photogrammetry, 3D modeling, and drone-based aerial documentation. His training includes Accident Reconstruction Levels 1–5, commercial vehicle reconstruction, motorcycle crash reconstruction, pedestrian crash investigation, damage and energy analysis, and human factors in vehicle collisions. Daniel is also a Georgia-certified Traffic Accident Reconstructionist and an FAA-licensed Part 107 Remote Pilot.
Today, Daniel serves as an Accident Reconstruction Expert with Evidence Solutions, Inc., applying his background in law enforcement collision investigation, crash reconstruction, forensic mapping, and vehicle data analysis to help evaluate how collisions occurred and whether the available physical and digital evidence is consistent with the reported circumstances of an incident.
