Introduction

Dr. Christopher J. Heath is an active duty board-certified clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience providing psychological care and consultation in both military and civilian contexts. He currently serves with Naval Special Warfare Group ONE, where he has been embedded since July 2023, offering specialized psychological services to elite military personnel. In addition, he works as a Medical Expert for SSA through TMAX Government Solutions LLC (since 2023) and as an Independent Medical Examiner for Dane Street LLC (since 2022).

Dr. Heath earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Texas in 2014, following an APA-accredited clinical internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego (2013–2014). He also holds an M.S. in General Psychology from the University of Memphis and a B.G.S. in Psychology from the University of Kansas. He is board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).

Throughout his career, Dr. Heath has served in a variety of high-responsibility roles. He led one of the Department of Defense’s largest substance abuse treatment centers as Department Head of the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (2016–2019). He also served as Officer in Charge of the Special Psychiatric Rapid Intervention Team (SPRINT) under NAVMEDFORLANT, where he led psychological crisis response training and consultation across Navy commands.

Dr. Heath’s professional expertise includes psychological evaluations for fitness for duty, security clearance adjudication, and special operations selection, as well as suitability assessments for U.S. Marines assigned to embassy security details. He also maintains currency as a JPRA/DoD SERE Psychologist.

An active contributor to the academic field, Dr. Heath has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations on topics including concussion in athletes, therapeutic lifestyle interventions, and evidence-based assessment practices. His teaching background spans undergraduate and graduate instruction in psychology, statistics, and neuropsychological assessment at institutions such as the University of North Texas and Tarrant County Community College.

Dr. Heath is dedicated to integrating evidence-based practices with operational demands, ensuring resilience and performance in high-stakes environments.
