Chase H. Williams
Automotive safety engineer with over a decade in vehicle technology. I led the safety case for a Level 4 automated driving system at Motional and now apply that to crash litigation: whether the systems saw what they should have, and what the data shows. As Principal ADS Safety Case Engineer I worked to ISO 26262 and UL 4600 using HARA and SOTIF methodology, and I bring the same analysis to whether a system performed as designed within its operational design domain. That work covers automatic emergency braking non-activation, forward collision warning, lane keeping, phantom braking, cross-traffic alert and driver monitoring adequacy, along with event data recorder and crash data retrieval interpretation, infotainment and telematics data layers, Tesla Autopilot and Full Self-Driving data, electric vehicle systems, and vehicle software and electronics defect analysis. Earlier roles include Group Engineering and Operations Manager for autonomous and vehicular technology at FirstGroup plc, covering all five business divisions, and connected and automated vehicle advisory work at Stantec and Munich Re America. My testifying work to date has been for plaintiff counsel. I hold no standing OEM or insurer book, and conflicts are checked matter by matter. I offer a free case screen: send one paragraph on the crash and the vehicle and I will return an engineer's read the same day, with no fee or obligation.
