C. Edward Scott
Captain C. Edward Scott is a Marine & Marina Operations Expert with more than 20 years of experience as a licensed tug captain across inland, coastal, and ocean routes in some of the world’s most demanding maritime environments. Captain Scott absorbed seamanship as second nature while growing up on boats and around his family’s sail loft and marina. He is experienced in marina and waterfront operations, and both sail and power vessels for recreational and commercial/charter operations. As an expert at Robson Forensic, Captain Scott investigates matters involving mishaps on tugs and barges, injuries and economic loss claims at marinas, and on recreational and commercial vessels.
Captain Scott’s professional towing career spans every level of tug work, from deckhand to captain, operating vessels from small in-land tugs to large ocean-going towing vessels and ATBs. His assignments have included hurricane-season fuel deliveries to Puerto Rico, complex West Coast bunkering operations, and participation in large-scale environmental response efforts, including the Deepwater Horizon oil spill cleanup.
In addition to his towing expertise, Captain Scott is experienced in passenger vessel operations, having captained water taxis, charter yachts, and tour boats on the Chesapeake Bay. Skilled in vessel handling, navigation, voyage planning, safety inspections, and regulatory compliance under USCG, ABS, and international standards, Captain Scott has a working knowledge of shipboard systems and electronics, including the integration of navigation, communication, and safety technologies.
Captain Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He is a U.S. Coast Guard Master 1600 Gross Tons, Oceans and U.S. Coast Guard Master of Towing Vessels, Oceans, among other industry credentials and certifications.
