Introduction

Trent Pettigrew is a law enforcement practices expert with over 32 years of experience as a State Trooper and Training Academy Director, including extensive work in traffic enforcement, vehicle operations, K-9 operations, pursuits, criminal interdiction, and critical incident response.

I provide objective, independent analysis in cases involving police conduct, including use of force, traffic stops, emergency vehicle operation, and adherence to established law enforcement standards.

I have investigated and responded to hundreds of roadway incidents and routinely evaluates officer decision-making under real-world conditions. My expertise includes whether an officer acted with appropriate caution, followed policy, and exercised “due regard” for the safety of others—particularly in non-emergency or discretionary enforcement situations.

I am frequently retained in cases involving:

* Failure to use due regard during vehicle operation
* Improper intersection clearing
* Speed and response decisions without lights and sirens
* Unjustified or excessive use of force
* Improper traffic stop procedures
* Policy violations and training deficiencies

My opinions are grounded in practical law enforcement experience, recognized standards, and a clear understanding of how officers are trained and expected to perform in the field.
