Dr. Sonali Agarwal is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician with nearly two decades of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in 1996 and her Doctor of Medicine in 1999 from Saba University School of Medicine, Netherlands-Antilles, following undergraduate studies in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine in 2001 and her residency in Anesthesiology in 2004 at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine. Dr. Agarwal pursued advanced subspecialty training through the Quad-Institution Pain Medicine Fellowship at Weill-Cornell, New York Presbyterian Hospital (Hospital for Special Surgery, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Columbia Medical Center), which she completed in 2005.

Following her fellowship, Dr. Agarwal joined the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine and Saint Luke’s Hospital as an Assistant Professor and staff pain management physician in the Department of Anesthesiology, where she served from 2005 to 2012. She then practiced at Mosaic Life Care in Kansas City as an interventional pain management physician from 2012 to 2018, providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for spine and joint disorders. From 2018 to 2023, she continued her work in interventional pain management at Saint Luke’s Health System Shoal Creek.

In 2023, Dr. Agarwal expanded her practice into telemedicine, serving as a pain management physician with Synergex Med Group in Long Beach, California. She currently practices at Spine and Joint Centers of Missouri in Kansas City, providing comprehensive pain management care. In addition, since 2024 she has served as an impartial independent medical examiner with Midwest Medical Group in Mission, Kansas.

Dr. Agarwal is board-certified in Anesthesiology (recertified 2016) and Pain Medicine (recertified 2019). She holds active medical licenses in Missouri, Kansas, California, Nevada, Alaska, and Washington. She is a member of multiple professional organizations including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, Missouri Society of Anesthesiologists, and Society of Interventional Spine. She has contributed to the medical literature, co-authoring a book chapter on peri-operative epidural analgesia in the Handbook of Acute Pain Management (2011).

Fluent in Hindi, Dr. Agarwal continues to dedicate her career to advancing interventional pain management through patient care, teaching, and medical-legal consulting.
