Dr. Shadie R. Azar is a board-certified periodontist with advanced expertise in periodontics and dental implantology. He currently practices at a private Southern California practice focused on periodontal health and implant therapy. His treatment philosophy centers on patient education and preserving natural dentition through comprehensive, evidence-based care.

Dr. Azar earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007, followed by a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University in 2009. He completed his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in 2015. Dr. Azar then pursued two consecutive years of hospital-based general practice residency training at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, where he advanced his clinical skills in medically complex care, periodontal surgery, implant placement, prosthodontics, and oral surgery. He was named Chief Resident during his PGY-2 year.

From 2017 to 2020, Dr. Azar completed a Master of Science in Dentistry and a Certificate in Periodontics and Moderate Sedation at Indiana University School of Dentistry. During his third year, he served as Chief Resident and was recognized with several awards for academic excellence, professionalism, and teaching, including the Henry M. Swenson Award, Brady Hancock Resident Award, and the Carol A. Walters Pre-Doctoral Teaching Award.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Azar has demonstrated a strong commitment to education, mentorship, and community service. He has led multiple international dental mission trips and held leadership positions throughout his academic career, including as president of NSU’s Dental Missions program. His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Team for Implantology, the California Society of Periodontists, and several regional and international periodontal and implant organizations.

Dr. Azar remains dedicated to advancing periodontal care through clinical excellence, continuing education, and community outreach.
