Dr. Sarah V Kelly
As a physician, who is also a patient with a genetic, incurable, progressive but poorly understood connective tissue disease known as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, EDS, I am uniquely able to empathize with and understand the health struggles of others. After completing residencies in internal medicine, clinical pathology and anatomic pathology, my career is now primarily focused on chronic invisible disability and EDS. In 2016 along with my husband, also a physician, I established an outpatient clinic focused on diagnosing and treating individuals affected by EDS & other forms of connective tissue disease.
Chronic, invisible disease, affects as over 150 million people in the United States today often going unnoticed, undiagnosed, and untreated. Affected individuals are often evaluated by numerous medical specialists, each viewing one aspect of a larger problem from their own, unique vantage point, potentially leading to incorrect diagnoses, preventable medical errors, and inadequate and/or inappropriate medical care, fueling disease progression, disability and depression.
Areas of medical expertise: internal medicine, connective tissue disease, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Marfan Syndrome, invisible disability, service dog training and use in EDS & POTS
