Dr. Sanjay Ranka is a computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), and software expert witness for patent litigation, PTAB/IPR proceedings, and complex technology disputes. He is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the University of Florida, former CTO, IEEE Fellow, and AAAS Fellow, with more than 35 years of experience.
His litigation experience includes more than 15 expert reports and declarations, four depositions, and federal jury-trial testimony, with work for plaintiffs and defendants. His work includes infringement, non-infringement, validity, invalidity, prior art, claim construction, source-code review, and analysis of accused systems.
His expertise includes artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and video compression; distributed systems, cloud computing, databases, networking, and storage; computer architecture, GPU computing, parallel and high-performance computing, memory systems, and hardware/software interaction; and software architecture, algorithms, APIs, optimization, and system performance.
As CTO and co-founder of Paramark, he helped design and operate PILOT, a real-time advertising optimization platform. His advertising-technology experience includes ad serving, behavioral targeting, user profiling, tracking, identifiers, campaign optimization, and data monetization.
His technical expertise is also applicable to trade-secret disputes involving proprietary algorithms, source code, AI/ML systems, software architecture, and confidential system implementations.
Representative matters include Tesla v. Intellectual Ventures; FreeWheel Media v. AlmondNet; Google v. MindbaseHQ; Hayden AI v. SafeFleet Holdings; and 800 Adept v. Murex Securities, in which he testified before a federal jury.
