Dr. Adhia is triple Board-Certified in Forensic Psychiatry, Brain Injury Medicine and general Psychiatry who assesses and testifies in criminal, civil and military cases nationally.
Dr. Adhia has been retained in a range of cases for plaintiff and defense. Case examples include personal injury and claims of emotional distress, multi-plaintiff, mass tort and toxic torts (psychiatric damages associated with oil spill, chemical exposure), brain injury (competency, competitive sports, personal injury), probate (competency/capacity, undue influence; dementia,) criminal competency (homicide, criminal and military courts), medical malpractice (clinic, hospital, and treaters), risk of violence assessment (armed security personnel), sexual assault and the use of drugs (DFSA), psychiatric factors in capital crime (homicide), and in most cases he assesses damages.
Dr. Adhia treats patients at nationally recognized TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital, focusing on psychiatry and those with injuries or diseases of the brain, dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI,) concussion (mTBI), and spinal cord injuries.
He applies unique credentials and experience across psychiatry—examining mental health and behavior and assessing damages—including complex cases that bridge psychiatry, brain injury, and disease.
Dr. Adhia is Associate Program Director of the Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship, at the University of Texas Health Science Center, McGovern Medical School in Houston where he also Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, and mentor in Forensic Psychiatry to residents.
Since 2019, Dr. Adhia has served on the Governor’s Advisory Committee to the Texas Board of Criminal Justice on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments. He previously treated patients on death row and in administrative segregation, including violent offenders at a "supermax" facility.
Dr. Adhia has served as an expert witness in capital cases and corrections matters, alongside his civil practice.
Adhia & Associates includes Texas-based Kerry Mendes, MD, a triple Board-Certified Child & Adolescent and Forensic Psychiatrist, and Dr. Pia Quimson-Guevarra, a double Board-Certified Adult and Forensic Psychiatrist dually licensed in Oregon and Washington.
