I have been practicing as a Board-certified Internal Medicine physician since 2001 and as a Board-Certified Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician since 2008. I practiced hospital-based palliative medicine in an urban teaching hospital prior to transitioning to work as a community-based hospice physician. I have worked as a Hospice Medical Director since 2020 and have been involved in multiple quality improvement projects and audits. I oversee multiple physicians and nurse practitioners and make hospice visits in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences. I continue to participate in Maintenance of Certification for my primary and secondary board certifications. I am also board certified as a Hospice Medical Director by the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board. I am a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. I am also the site director for the Dell Medical School Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program. I have presented at regional and national conferences and have several publications. I am affiliate faculty at the University of Texas Dell Medical School. I have experience in direct patient care, care oversight, audits, and staff oversight. Communication skills are one of my strongest areas, and I am able to explain complex medical information in a straightforward way.
