Introduction

Dr. Ronen J. Kalay is a board-certified family medicine physician with extensive experience in primary care, hospice medicine, and medical leadership. Since 2017, he has served as a Staff Physician with UCLA Health in Woodland Hills, California, providing comprehensive primary and urgent care to patients of all ages. His practice encompasses annual physicals, preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and in-office surgical procedures.

In addition to his role at UCLA, Dr. Kalay has held concurrent leadership appointments since 2018 as Medical Director for CVS MinuteClinic in Los Angeles and Medical Director for Luxe Hospice in Pacific Palisades, California. At CVS MinuteClinic, he supervises nurse practitioners and physician assistants, providing chart review and guidance on complex medical decision-making. At Luxe Hospice, he provides compassionate end-of-life care, conducting medical examinations and managing treatment plans tailored to patient and family needs.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Kalay served as a Staff Physician at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp (2016–2017), where he provided urgent and routine care for pediatric patients, including sports physicals, trauma management, and vaccinations. From 2013 to 2014, he worked as a Care Consultant with CenseoHealth in Los Angeles, performing in-home healthcare evaluations for Medicare and Medicaid members and contributing to improved care coordination.

Dr. Kalay completed his Family Practice Residency at UC Davis – San Joaquin General Hospital (2014–2017) and a General Surgery Internship at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena (2012–2013). He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in 2012, preceded by a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences from Boston University School of Medicine in 2008, where his thesis examined KIR mismatch in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology, with an emphasis in Neurobiology, from the University of California, Berkeley (2005), where his undergraduate thesis explored advances in tissue cryopreservation.

Dr. Kalay has contributed to research and presentations on topics including Medicare policy, medical technology development, and cellular transplantation. He is an active member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, California Medical Association, Los Angeles County Medical Association, and San Joaquin County Medical Association.

Fluent in English and Hebrew and proficient in Spanish, Dr. Kalay integrates his broad clinical expertise, procedural skills, and leadership in both outpatient and hospice settings to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care across the continuum of medicine.
