Introduction

Robert J. Zimmanck, MD, FASA
Anesthesiology Expert Witness | Medicolegal Consultant

Dr. Robert Zimmanck is a board-certified anesthesiologist and Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists with over a decade of clinical practice and healthcare leadership. A graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, he brings deep specialty knowledge across anesthesia standards of care, perioperative risk assessment, and patient safety systems to his medicolegal practice.

Dr. Zimmanck served as Chair of Anesthesia Patient Safety and Quality Committees for a prominent Midwest anesthesia group, where he led the development of institutional safety protocols and quality improvement initiatives. As Medical Director at a Wisconsin hospital, he designed the region's first Anesthesia Perioperative Surgical Home — a model integrating coordinated perioperative care across surgical disciplines. He currently serves on his hospital's mortality review committee, as Region 1 Director for the Wisconsin Society of Anesthesiologists, and as adjunct faculty at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine.

His medicolegal work encompasses case review, expert opinion, deposition testimony, and trial testimony for both plaintiff and defense counsel in matters involving anesthesia malpractice, airway management, perioperative complications, patient safety failures, and standards of care disputes. His analysis is evidence-based, precise, and grounded in both clinical reality and institutional leadership experience. His experience includes recent trial testimony for a complex malpractice case on the East Coast.
