Expert pharmacologist and researcher with extensive experience in pharmacology and toxicology including specific areas such as pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism, drug-drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions. Dr. Ronaldson has currently published over 40 peer-reviewed research manuscripts and 5 book chapters. His laboratory is presently funded by the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, and Arizona Biomedical Research Commission. Dr. Ronaldson's research is focused on understanding how the blood-brain barrier is modified by neurological diseases and how these changes affect treatment of diseases such as stroke, acute/chronic pain, drug addiction, and Alzheimer's disease. Such studies are aimed at improving existing therapies and reducing the risk for adverse drug events and/or drug-drug interactions.

In addition to research responsibilities, Dr. Ronaldson currently teaches pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism, and pharmacogenomics to first year medical students at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and pharmacology, toxicology, neuropharmacology, drug discovery, and drug safety to doctoral students in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Ronaldson is the current chair of the Drug Discovery for the Nervous System (DDNS) study section of the NIH and is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), the American Heart Association (AHA), and the International Society of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism (ISCBFM).
