Introduction

Dr. Patrick Ronaldson is an expert pharmacologist and researcher with extensive experience in pharmacology and toxicology including specific areas such as pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism, drug-drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions. He has experience as an expert witness in criminal trials, civil litigation including medical malpractice cases, intellectual property matters related to drug discovery/development, and pharmaceutical patent litigation. He has worked on over 25 cases as an expert witness and has provided deposition and/or trial testimony in several of these matters. Dr. Ronaldson has currently published over 50 peer-reviewed research manuscripts and 7 book chapters. His laboratory is presently funded by the National Institutes of Health (i.e., National Institutes of Neurological Diseases and Stroke; National Institute on Drug Abuse) to conduct translational studies aimed at developing novel strategies to treat neurological diseases and limiting adverse events associated with centrally acting drugs.

In addition to research responsibilities, Dr. Ronaldson currently teaches pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug metabolism, and pharmacogenomics to medical students at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and pharmacology, toxicology, neuropharmacology, drug discovery, and drug safety to graduate-level students (i.e., MS and PhD) at the University of Arizona. Dr. Ronaldson is the past chair of the Drug Discovery for the Nervous System (DDNS) study section of the NIH and is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), the American Heart Association (AHA), and the International Society of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism (ISCBFM).
