Patrick Nicholson, P.E., is a California-registered Civil Engineer and licensed General Building and General Engineering Contractor with 43 years of engineering, construction, design, and management experience. His experience encompasses major design-build and traditional design-bid-build projects involving heavy civil construction, tunnels, subway stations, bridges, rail and transit systems, highways, utilities, support of excavation, structural engineering, geotechnical issues, drainage, and complex urban infrastructure. Mr. Nicholson served as Design-Build Manager on the more than $2 billion Los Angeles Metro Westside Subway Extension Section 1 project, where he was responsible for 43 Engineers-of-Record across multiple engineering and architectural disciplines. He previously served as a Vice President of AECOM responsible for Southern California transportation operations encompassing more than 300 professionals in four offices. His claims and dispute-resolution experience includes construction means and methods, technical issues, schedule delays, productivity losses, damages, cost and schedule analysis, mediated construction claims, and major Dispute Review Board and Neutral Evaluator proceedings. He has served as technical lead on disputes involving more than $500 million in claims and was lead author and presenter in a DRB proceeding resulting in an $85 million award to the contractor.
