Introduction

Dr. Mofya Diallo is a distinguished pediatric anesthesiologist and a public health professional with a focus on health equity and pain management. She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California and serves as a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. In this role, she works in the Division of Anesthesiology within the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Medicine. Dr. Diallo is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology and holds an active medical license in California.

Dr. Diallo’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, magna cum laude, from Lincoln University in 2003. She went on to earn a Master of Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health from Drexel University School of Public Health in 2005 and her Doctor of Medicine from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 2009. She completed a general surgery internship at Atlanta Medical Center, an anesthesiology residency at Emory University, and a pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at George Washington University-Children’s National Medical Center.

Prior to her current roles in Los Angeles, Dr. Diallo spent seven years at Children’s National Hospital and George Washington University. She served as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics and held key administrative positions, including Anesthesiologist-in-charge from 2018 to 2021. She was also the Director of Regional Anesthesia, where she was responsible for education and protocols to optimize patient access to regional anesthesia services.

Throughout her career, Dr. Diallo has contributed significantly to her field through research and service. Her research interests and a majority of her publications focus on health equity, diversity, and acute pain management. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles on these topics in prominent journals, including Anesthesia & Analgesia and Anesthesiology Clinics. Additionally, she has co-authored three book chapters and provided anesthesia care in Milot, Haiti, on three separate occasions as part of the CRUDEM Foundation.
