Michael Tuttman is a Civil Engineer with over 25 years of engineering and design experience in a diverse group of disciplines including transportation design, heavy construction, design-build projects, construction inspection, materials testing, and aquatic facility design. He has held a range of positions in the industry, from field survey and data collection to construction inspection, materials testing quality control, transportation facility design (interstate highways, collector roads, urban streets and recreational multi-use trails), field engineering, and project management. Over the course of his career, he has worked with state departments of transportation, authorities, municipal governments, consulting engineers, contractors and private owners.

As a project engineer on heavy-highway construction projects, Michael’s has hands-on experience in developing construction plans and specifications, scheduling, project safety, work zone traffic control, project management and dispute resolution. He has dealt with matters involving fall protection, excavation safety, rigging and working with various types of construction equipment.

Michael has participated as a project engineer on several historic canal structure projects, notably the full rehabilitation of Lock C-4 on the Champlain Canal and the repair/rehabilitation of Movable Dam 8 on the Erie Canal.

Michael earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Union College. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in more than a dozen states. He has completed various professional and safety training courses, including OSHA certification in construction safety and health. Michael participates in the Upstate New York/Capitol District Damage Prevention Council of Dig Safely NY.
