Dr. Mark Levin is a board-certified anesthesiologist with over 28 years of clinical, leadership, and medical case review experience both in the US military and in private practice. He has extensive experience performing legal reviews of anesthesia, operating room, critical care, and hospital medical records and providing prompt, clear, and timely assessments.
Dr. Levin has held leadership positions at numerous hospitals including Chief of Anesthesia for 12 years in private practice, Chief of Medical Staff, and has held multiple clinical and command roles in the US military, both in the US and overseas. He was also a Board member and principal evaluator in a perioperative management corporation which evaluated perioperative safety, management, and efficiency and made recommendations to hospital Boards and CEOs.
In private practice, Dr. Levin’s anesthesia group formed a captive insurance subsidiary to insure its own risks. He was an active member of the captive and consulted frequently with his attorneys and risk managers. He scrutinized numerous medical records in this role and in his role as Chief of Anesthesia.
As an experienced physician, Dr. Levin has educated and mentored at all levels including medical students, residents, nurses, physician assistants, paramedics, EMTs, nurse anesthetists, and student nurse anesthetists. He has taught airway, battlefield, and air transportation medical skills to technicians, nurses, and physicians, and has deployed overseas directing, transporting, and caring for critically injured servicemembers. He created numerous initiatives aimed at increasing patient safety, collaboration, and communication in operating rooms and hospitals between clinicians at all levels.
Dr. Levin received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, and trained at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in Boston, MA.
