Introduction

Les Winter has been building and designing furniture for more than twenty-five years. As a skilled cabinet maker and professional engineer, Les applies his expertise towards the investigation of woodworking tool-related injuries.

Les’s expertise goes beyond furniture making; he also rebuilds and refurbishes table saw, bandsaws, radial arm saws, and other woodworking tools and machines. He has extensive experience designing custom guards to improve the safety of equipment as well as cutting-edge industry technology, such as Saw Stop and other flesh sensing technologies. Les owns and operates a Saw Stop table saw in his personal workshop.

Les wrote the safety introduction for “The Accurate Table Saw,” a book concerning proper operation of table saws. He also wrote portions of a table saw operation manual for Wilke Machinery. Les is licensed as a Professional Engineer in multiple states.
