Dr. Joseph M. Latham is a licensed clinical psychologist (CA License #PSY35056, CO License #PSY.0006386) and former U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant with extensive experience in psychological assessment, trauma recovery, and veteran mental health care. He is the founder and owner of Seahorse Psychology Center in Mission Viejo, California, where he provides comprehensive psychological evaluations—including neuropsychological, personality, and presurgical assessments—and evidence-based psychotherapy for adults and couples. His clinical expertise encompasses trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and personality disorders, with a strong emphasis on resilience, rehabilitation, and individualized treatment.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Latham serves as a Consulting Psychologist with the California Forensic Assessment Project (CFAP), where he conducts evaluations for CONREP patients and collaborates with legal and clinical teams to inform forensic decisions. He previously worked as a Clinical Psychologist with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, providing direct therapy, assessments, and program evaluation for veterans across outpatient settings. His background also includes leadership as Director of Veteran Services at Irvine Valley College, where he managed a $4.5 million budget and led campus-wide initiatives supporting the educational and emotional well-being of student veterans.
Dr. Latham earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and his Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Orange County. He holds EMDR Level I training and advanced certifications in trauma-informed care and veteran support. His research—focused on behavioral predictors of weight loss in male veterans—has been presented nationally and published in peer-reviewed outlets.
Before his clinical career, Dr. Latham served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for over 15 years, completing five combat deployments and receiving multiple commendations for leadership and operational excellence. His dual background in military service and psychology informs his mission to empower individuals through evidence-based, compassionate, and culturally informed mental health care.
