Dr. Joseph DeVono is an experienced cardiologist with over 25 years of clinical practice in cardiovascular medicine, emergency medicine, and internal medicine. He has served patients across West Virginia through both hospital-based and outpatient care, holding leadership and teaching roles throughout his career.

Dr. DeVono began his medical training at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991 and graduated number 1 in his class. He then completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Charleston Area Medical Center from 1991 to 1992, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the same institution from 1992 to 1995. He pursued advanced fellowship training in Cardiology at Marshall University and Charleston Area Medical Center from 1996 to 1999, specializing in cardiovascular medicine and advanced cardiac care.

From 1995 to 1996, Dr. DeVono also practiced as an Emergency Physician at CAMC Physicians Group, broadening his experience in acute care medicine. In 1999, he joined South Charleston Cardiology as an Attending Cardiologist, a role he held until 2015, providing comprehensive cardiac care to patients with conditions ranging from coronary artery disease and heart failure to arrhythmias and preventive cardiovascular medicine.

During this time, he also served as Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine at Charleston Area Medical Center, where he oversaw the cardiovascular department, guided clinical programs, and mentored medical trainees.

Dr. DeVono earned dual undergraduate degrees from West Virginia University in Morgantown, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1985 and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry in 1987 before entering medical school.
