John M. Daniel, D.O., I am an independent expert witness and litigation consultant since 2015 whose 50-year medical and 18-year police/corrections career spans internal medicine, family nurse practitioner practice, registered nursing, emergency medical services, law enforcement, correctional medicine and corrections.
My multidisciplinary background provides an integrated perspective in cases involving any of these disciplines helping complete a full profile no matter what the case without having to pay multiple experts and worrying about conflicting opinions. From being dropped by EMS, use of force, violations of nursing, nurse practitioners, physician standards to violation of policy and procedures in law enforcement, corrections or correctional healthcare. I have worked in primary care, as a hospitalist, wound care physician including hyperbaric medicine to nursing in all areas of care in medicine. In law enforcement having worked as a housing, booking, and senior officer, I understand correctional policy and procedures. As a jail medical officer supervising six LPNs, I understand the specifics of medical care in local and federal facilities. As a law enforcement officer who worked in patrol, I have the experience and training to discuss areas such as use of force, policies and procedures, in custody deaths, etc. I have 42 years of military experience and have worked in nursing, medicine, and as a medic along with JFK special warfare certifications in law enforcement, corrections and border patrol.
I have defended multiple officers in shooting deaths, use of K9s, to plaintiffs and in custody deaths. I have helped attorneys prove their cases from being dropped by EMS due to negligent behavior to nurses and providers deviating from the standard of care and many other cases. Being able to take a case that involves EMS, law enforcement, corrections, and correctional medicine, I have helped attorneys win multiple settlements within the same case with the help of my integrated opinions showing breakdowns, violations of policies and procedures, etc. that caused injury even to the extent of death of those involved. I have defended multiple officers in shooting deaths or use of force to include K9 bites. In nursing and medicine, I have reviewed cases from evaluation of standards and outcomes. I have provided both sides with briefs if I believe I cannot support their case. I have given opinions to people in legal procedures to include testifying in a homicide case.
I provide independent case reviews, expert reports, affidavits, depositions, trial testimony, rebuttal opinions, and consultation for plaintiff and defense counsel.
