Introduction

Dr. Jessica L. Langenhan is a board-certified psychiatrist and healthcare leader with nearly two decades of experience in clinical practice, medical administration, and behavioral health innovation. She is currently a Medical Director at Carelon Behavioral Health, a division of Elevance (formerly Anthem, Inc.), where she oversees quality of care initiatives, utilization review, and clinical education. In addition, she serves as an outpatient psychiatrist with Included Health (Doctor on Demand). She is also an appointed Expert Reviewer for the Medical Board of California.

Dr. Langenhan earned her Bachelor of Science in Physiological Science, summa cum laude with departmental honors, from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she also minored in Spanish Literature. She completed her Doctor of Medicine at The George Washington University School of Medicine with distinction and then pursued her residency training in General Adult Psychiatry at UC Irvine Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident during her 4th year of training. She went on to earn her Master of Business Administration with honors from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, graduating in the top 15% of her class. She also holds advanced certifications in healthcare quality and management, yoga instruction, vegan lifestyle coaching, and brain longevity related to the prevention of dementia.

Her career spans leadership roles in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, telepsychiatry, and behavioral health systems. She has served as attending psychiatrist at multiple California hospitals and residential treatment programs, including Riverside University Health System, Royale Therapeutic Residential Center, and Western Medical Center Anaheim, and she has contributed to administrative leadership at Anthem, Inc. and Montage Recovery Solutions. Beyond clinical and administrative practice, Dr. Langenhan has contributed to medical education as a faculty member at UC Riverside School of Medicine and as a course developer for Medmastery, an online educational platform for physicians.

An active advocate for whole-person health, Dr. Langenhan integrates her expertise in psychiatry with interests in nutrition, wellness, and mindfulness practices. She is licensed to practice medicine in California, Hawaii, North Carolina, New York, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado. She continues to advance behavioral health care through consulting, teaching, and quality-focused leadership.
