Dr. Ian English
St. Louis, MO 63110
Office: 314-607-4522
Dr. Ian English is Division Chief of Orthopedic Tumor Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine, where he specializes in the management of complex bone and soft tissue tumors in both pediatric and adult patients. His clinical practice is focused on high-acuity cases, including malignant tumors, limb salvage, and the surgical management of complications such as infection, bone loss, and deformity.
In addition to tumor surgery, Dr. English has extensive experience in complex hip and knee reconstruction, particularly revision procedures in the setting of prior surgical failure, infection, or mechanical complications. He also provides care for patients requiring or recovering from upper and lower extremity amputation. He frequently evaluates cases involving delayed diagnosis, surgical complications, infection, and limb salvage decision-making.
Dr. English completed fellowship training in orthopedic oncology at the University of Florida, one of the longest-standing tumor programs in the United States. His dual expertise in tumor surgery and complex reconstruction allows him to assess cases that involve both oncologic and mechanical considerations—an overlap frequently encountered in high-complexity and disputed clinical scenarios.
As a division chief at a leading academic medical center, Dr. English routinely manages challenging cases referred from regional and national institutions. He has experience evaluating surgical decision-making, complication management, and standards of care in complex orthopedic conditions. He is known for delivering clear, structured explanations of complex medical issues to both clinical and non-clinical audiences, including attorneys and juries.
Dr. English is available for case review, expert opinion, deposition, and trial testimony.
