
Dr. Frederick C. Jones-Rosa, MD

Dr. Frederick C. Jones-Rosa is a double board-certified psychiatrist in General and Forensic Psychiatry, currently serving as a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor in Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). He brings extensive clinical, academic, and forensic experience to his work, combining a strong background in evidence-based psychiatric care with specialized expertise in forensic evaluation, veterans’ mental health, and physician wellness.
Dr. Jones-Rosa earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2013 and his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2017. He completed his Psychiatry Residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident from 2020 to 2021. During his residency, he was recognized with multiple honors, including the Annual Humanitarian Award, the Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Services, and the Resident Recognition Award.
He went on to complete a Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship at Northwestern University in 2022, where he was awarded the prestigious Cavanaugh Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry. His fellowship research focused on potential bias in juvenile fitness evaluations—a study he presented at the 2022 American Psychiatric Association (APA) Conference. Dr. Jones-Rosa’s scholarly contributions also include research on resident wellness and neurobiological mechanisms of early life stress, as well as multiple presentations at national psychiatry conferences.
Clinically, Dr. Jones-Rosa has served in a range of psychiatric settings, including as Inpatient Psychiatrist at Riveredge Hospital, Clinical Outpatient Psychiatrist with Northeast Family Services, and Compensation & Pension Psychiatric Evaluator for the Jesse Brown VA Hospital. He currently practices as a Psychiatrist in the Emergency Room and Urgent Care Clinic at Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital, providing acute psychiatric care to veterans.
His professional interests include forensic psychiatry, veteran mental health, bias in forensic evaluations, and clinician wellness. Dr. Jones-Rosa is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with subspecialty certification in Forensic Psychiatry. He holds active medical licenses in California and Illinois, as well as DEA registration.
