Introduction

Frederick J. "Rick" Bingham is an insurance claims-handling and bad-faith expert with nearly 45 years as a carrier claims executive, regulator's and receiver's representative, and testifying expert. He is retained by counsel for policyholders and for insurers, and by carriers, receivers, and state insurance regulators. No court has ever excluded Rick Bingham as an expert, under Daubert, Rule 702, or any state standards.

Rick Bingham evaluates whether an insurance claim, or a whole book of claims, was handled to the standards the industry and regulators require.

Mr. Bingham began his career in claims at The Hartford, USF&G, and CNA, rising over 13 years from adjuster trainee to vice president. At CNA he designed and ran the national operation that moved environmental, asbestos and toxic tort claims out of 37 field offices, relocated tens of thousands of claim files with proper reserving and wrote the claim policy and procedure manuals. His work for and on behalf of state Departments of Insurance began in 1992. As Claims and Reinsurance Officer at the Illinois Office of the Special Deputy Receiver he billed and collected more than $100 million in reinsurance and worked with NOLHGA committees on multi-state life and annuity receiverships. Across that work he has examined more than 100 carriers and a number of third-party administrators.

In 2008, he founded Glynloen Insurance Consulting. He forms every opinion the firm renders and signs every report, supported by the firm's tech-assisted case-mapping of the full record, with each fact cited to its document page.

Mr. Bingham served 14 years on the Hearing Board, and on the Oversight Board, of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Centre College.
