Dr. Eric T. Ory
Bend, OR 97701
Office: 541-398-7286
Board-Certified Emergency Physician with over 26 years of active clinical experience and more than 100,000 patient encounters in high-acuity emergency department settings. I provide independent medicolegal consulting and expert witness services for both plaintiff and defense counsel in medical malpractice and personal injury matters.
My expertise focuses on Emergency Department standards of care, including evaluation, triage, diagnostic decision-making, disposition, and communication in time-sensitive clinical scenarios. I have extensive experience managing undifferentiated patients in fast-paced environments, including community hospitals, critical access facilities, and high-volume emergency departments.
Common case areas include missed or delayed diagnosis (e.g., myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism, stroke, sepsis, and aortic dissection), improper discharge or failure to admit, triage-related issues, and medical causation in trauma and acute illness. I also provide analysis of airway management, procedural care, and coordination of care across specialties.
Services include case screening for merit, comprehensive chart review, standard of care and causation analysis, deposition preparation, and trial testimony. I am frequently retained for time-sensitive matters and offer expedited initial case screening when needed; turnaround depends on record volume and complexity.
I maintain an active clinical practice, which informs my opinions with current, real-world standards of emergency care. My approach is objective, evidence-based, and clearly communicated, with the goal of assisting counsel in understanding complex medical issues and presenting them effectively.
