Introduction

I am a specialist in the Evaluation and Treatment of Older Adults including the evaluation and treatment of depression, anxiety, stress disorders, relationship problems, insomnia, memory problems, dementia, delirium and other mental and emotional problems which occur in the second half of life.

I am available for legal and forensic consultations, assessments, and record reviews, concerning psychiatric issues in older individuals, including issues of competency, testamentary capacity, undue influence, and contested wills and trusts, as well as geriatric psychiatric issues occuring in hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

I am Board Certified in General Psychiatry and in Geriatric Psychiatry. I have been in clinical practice of Geriatric Psychiatry for more than 43 years. I was Director of Psychiatry and Medical Director of the Geriatric Psychiatric Hospital at the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (Jewish Home of San Francisco) 2010-2020, and previously in clinical practice of Geriatric Psychiatry in Miami Beach, Florida for 33 years.

I am a member of multiple professional organizations. I am a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. I am a Life Member of the International PsychoGeriatricc Association. I also belong to the American Medical Association, the American Geriatrics Society, and teh Gerontological Society of America.

I was on the Board of Directors (1982 - 1985) and was elected President of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry (1985 - 1987); President of the Gerontologic Society of Florida (1989 -1990); Treasurer of the International PsychoGeriatric Association (1989 - 1993) and elected to their Board of Directors (1993 - 1997).

I have been a member of the Task Force on Testamentary Capacity and Undue Influence, for the International PsychoGeriatric Association (2007 – 2016).

A: I am licensed to practice Medicine in Florida and in California.
I am Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry (October, 1979), and in Geriatric Psychiatry (April, 1991; Re-Certified, 2001, 2011 and 2022 ).
I am a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry.
I am honored to have been listed in Best Doctors in America since 1992.
In 1997, I was given the Founder’s Award by the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry for contributions to the field. This was only the 3rd time that this award had been presented since the organization was started in 1978.
In May, 2001, I received the Jack Weinberg Memorial Award in Geriatric Psychiatry from the American Psychiatric Association, their highest award in Geriatric Psychiatry.
In 2003, I was selected as the first recipient of the Clinician of the Year Award by the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry.
In 2004, I was given the Distinguished Alumnus Award by the University of Miami School of Medicine.

A: I have been in clinical practice of Geriatric Psychiatry for more than 45 years.
I am on the staff of the division of Geriatric Psychiatry at the San Francisco Veterans Administration Medical Center.

I was Director of Psychiatry and Medical Director of the Geriatric Psychiatric Hospital at the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (Jewish Home of San Francisco) 2010-2020, and previously in clinical practice of Geriatric Psychiatry in Miami Beach, Florida for 33 years.

A: I am Clinical Professor (voluntary) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of California San Francisco, and was previously Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami. I have been a Lecturer at many local, regional, national, and international conferences, speaking on a variety of topics related to geriatric psychiatry.
