Dr. David Shepard is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY32258) with extensive experience providing psychotherapy, psychological assessment, crisis intervention, and clinical consultation across community mental health, school-based wellness settings, and private practice. His work spans individual and couples therapy, case management, supervision, and psychological evaluations delivered both in person and via telehealth platforms, with a consistent emphasis on thorough documentation and high-quality clinical care.

Since August 2025, Dr. Shepard has served as a Social Security Consultative Examiner with Megalithic Psychology, Inc. (August 2025–current), conducting psychological evaluations with adults via telehealth and in person and submitting psychological reports to Social Security. He also owns and operates a private practice, Therapy With Dr. David (December 2023–current), where he provides therapy to adults and couples via telehealth and uses an electronic health record system. In addition, he has practiced as a psychologist in a group private practice at Therapy Now SF (September 2019–current), providing individual psychotherapy, couples therapy, and case management with adults, as well as supervision for unlicensed psychologists. In this role, he also serves as a consultant to private practice colleagues, uses an electronic health record system, provides services both in person and through telehealth platforms, and writes entries for private practice blogs on a variety of mental health issues. From October 2022 to March 2024, he also worked as a psychologist in group private practice at Ubuntu Psychological Services, providing therapy to adults and couples via telehealth and consulting with colleagues while using an electronic health record system.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Shepard served as a Wellness Center Therapist at Richmond Area Multi-Services, Inc. (August 2012–February 2023), delivering psychotherapy, case management, and crisis intervention with diverse adolescents in a high school wellness center. He facilitated and co-facilitated multiple student groups, provided brief family therapy, consulted with school staff and parents, mentored therapist interns, delivered psycho-education workshops, and co-wrote a grant that resulted in funding for an African American student research project. He utilized an electronic health record system and an online Avatar system to complete documentation required for Medi-Cal clients and provided services both in person and via telehealth.

Dr. Shepard completed his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University in Alameda, California (granted December 2011), along with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology (granted July 2009), and earned his B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University (granted May 2007). He holds clinical certifications as a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (Evergreen Certifications, certified January 2024) and a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional (Integrative Sex Therapy Institute & Evergreen Certifications, certified April 2023).
