Introduction

Ms. Young is an actively practicing, hands-on bedside emergency department nurse, which ensures that her expert opinions are grounded in current clinical practice and aligned with contemporary standards of care. Claire Young brings 27 years of nursing experience, including more than 24 years in emergency nursing encompassing emergency department care, trauma, and critical care, and she continues to practice in the emergency department.

Ms. Young is a member of several professional organizations, including the Emergency Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, the Society of Trauma Nurses, and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. She has developed extensive experience in both adult and pediatric emergency nursing across a wide range of clinical settings, from small and large community hospitals to a Level II trauma center. Her background includes more than 10 years as a trauma team member at a Level II trauma center and over 14 years serving as a Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN RN). In addition, Ms. Young has provided interfacility transport for critical and high-risk patients for more than 10 years as a Critical Care Transport Registered Nurse (CCT RN) with a large ambulance service.

Ms. Young is a highly skilled emergency nurse committed to the highest standards of professional excellence and patient advocacy. She serves as a union steward, representing and educating staff while ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and professional practice standards. She performs effectively in high-pressure environments that require strong clinical judgment, self-direction, meticulous attention to detail, and sound decision-making. Her breadth of experience provides a comprehensive understanding of emergency nursing standards of care. She communicates complex healthcare issues clearly and effectively, supported by strong analytical and interpretive skills.

Ms. Young has maintained national certification through the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) as a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) for more than 19 years. She also maintains current certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN).
