Introduction

Charles Johnson is a Board-Certified Physical Security Professional (PSP®) with more than 30 years of hands-on experience in the physical security industry. His unique combination of technical expertise, real-world operational insight, and executive-level leadership positions him as a highly credible, articulate, and effective expert witness for civil and criminal cases involving security technology, procedures, and industry standards.

As a Security Consultant serving clients nationwide, Charles brings deep proficiency across the full lifecycle of modern security systems, including capabilities, design, installation, programming, operation, maintenance, and potential points of failure or malfunction. This comprehensive understanding enables him to clearly explain how systems should perform, why they may fail, and whether industry best practices were followed.

One of Charles’s greatest strengths as an expert witness is his ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, accessible explanations. Judges, juries, and attorneys consistently benefit from his ability to break down intricate concepts, turning highly technical evidence into compelling, easy-to-understand testimony.

As the Founder & CEO of NGA Security Advisors, with offices in Georgia and Florida, Charles leads a team that conducts onsite vulnerability assessments and provides strategic guidance to clients seeking to enhance safety and security through technology. His background spans a wide range of environments, including:

• Corporate & Fortune 500
• Higher Education & K-12
• Healthcare
• Critical Infrastructure
• Multi-Family Housing

• Gaming & Casinos
• Entertainment Venues
• Federal, State & Local Government
• Law Enforcement & Public Safety

This diverse experience allows Charles to contextualize security issues across multiple sectors and to evaluate whether the measures in place were appropriate, reasonable, and compliant with expected standards.

He is a member of IAPSC (International Association of Professional Security Consultants), ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security), SIA (Security Industry Association) & US CPTED. His current Certificates include PSP (Physical Security Professional) from ASIS & FCP (Florida CPTED Practitioner) from State of Florida Office of Attorney General - Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute.

As an Expert Witness Charles provides Case Review, Research, On-Site Assessment, Consultation on Security Standards & Best Practices, Oral & Written Opinion, Sworn Deposition, Coaching Retaining Counsel and Testimony in claims/lawsuits involving Negligent Security, Premises Liability, Personal Injury and Physical Security Technology such as Physical Access Control, Video Surveillance, Biometrics, AI, IoT, Vehicle Entrance, Pedestrian Entrance, Exterior Barriers, Fire, Burglar & Sprinkler Alarms.

In addition, Charles is an expert on the Florida Tort Reform Bill / Florida House Bill 837 / Florida Statute 768.0706 that was signed into law in March 2023 providing a “Presumption Against Liability” for multi-family property owners/management companies against premises liability/personal injury claims/lawsuits. Charles is very adept at educating others on the initial and ongoing compliance requirements including CPTED Assessment, security improvements and employee education. He earned the requisite FCP (Florida CPTED Practitioner) designation in December 2024, which was granted by the State of Florida Office of Attorney General. He is also a member of US CPTED and is dedicated to educating others on the substantial Crime Prevention benefits of incorporating CPTED in a building's environmental design.
