Introduction

Dr. Axeline Maisonet Johnson is a board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in psychotherapy, public mental health, and culturally responsive care. Currently based in California, she provides adult psychiatric care across multiple settings while holding clinical, supervisory, and educational leadership roles.

Dr. Johnson earned her medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 2018 and a Master of Public Health from Southern Illinois University in 2013. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Columbia University in 2008. From 2018 to 2022, she trained in psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year and received the Outstanding Senior Resident Award and the Excellence in Psychotherapy Award. During residency, she also completed the Foundations of Psychoanalytic Thought program at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia.

Since 2022, Dr. Johnson has worked as a psychiatrist at Neighborhood Healthcare in Riverside, CA, where she provides adult mental health services and serves as the sole psychiatrist for the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). She also serves as a Psychiatry Supervisor overseeing a multidisciplinary team, and as a preceptor for the Advanced Practitioner Training Academy (APTA). She maintains a telepsychiatry role with Apraku Psychiatry and conducts remote psychiatric evaluations for transitional-aged youth through Quest Programs, Inc. (S.T.E.P.S.).

Earlier in her career, Dr. Johnson worked with the Lang Youth Medical Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and held consult liaison moonlighting roles at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her academic contributions span peer-reviewed research, case presentations, and teaching medical students in both clinical and preclinical settings.

Dr. Johnson is fluent in English, Spanish, and Classical Latin, and holds active medical licenses in California, Pennsylvania, and Florida (telehealth). She brings a thoughtful, evidence-based, and community-centered approach to every aspect of her practice.
