Asad is a board-certified Anesthesiologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, where he specializes in Anesthesiology, Cardiac anesthesia, Critical care and Mechanical circulatory support (MCS), and ECMO. He has been participating in legal analytics work for over 10 years has expertise in patients undergoing anesthesia, cardiovascular surgery, and critical care.
His clinical and research focus centers on right heart failure diagnosis and management, temporary and durable MCS device selection and optimization, and perioperative hemodynamic monitoring. He has authored 50+ peer-reviewed publications on temporary right ventricular assist devices and has presented at national critical care and mechanical circulatory support conferences including SCCM and ASAIO.
He has served as a consultant to industry and clinical teams on MCS device management and perioperative cardiac care protocols. His expertise spans the full spectrum of perioperative cardiac events, including myocardial infarction, hemodynamic instability, vasoplegia, coagulopathy, and anaphylaxis including protamine reactions.
He holds an active medical license and maintains full clinical privileges at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is available for case review, expert opinion, deposition, and trial testimony in matters involving cardiac anesthesia, mechanical circulatory support, perioperative cardiac events, and critical care management.
