Introduction

Dr. Arezoo Esfahani is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience providing culturally sensitive mental health services to transitional-age youth, adults, and older adults. Bilingual in English and Farsi, she has worked in diverse clinical settings including community mental health clinics, inpatient facilities, college counseling centers, and forensic agencies. Dr. Esfahani specializes in the assessment and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, co-occurring disorders, borderline personality disorder, and emotional dysregulation.

She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, San Diego, and completed both her APA-accredited internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute for Multicultural Counseling and Education Services (IMCES). During her post-doctoral training, she provided individual, group, couples, and family therapy, as well as psycho-diagnostic assessments, crisis intervention, and case management. She has extensive experience using evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, and mindfulness-based therapies.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Esfahani is a peer supervisor and educator, providing training and mentorship to pre-doctoral interns and staff on best practices in assessment, therapy, and supervision. She has led workshops and presented on topics such as DBT, CBT, self-compassion, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive interventions. Her research focuses on mindfulness, self-compassion, and the application of evidence-based practices to improve mental health outcomes.
