Dr. Anita Gupta is a board-certified anesthesiologist, pain medicine specialist, and pharmacologist with over two decades of clinical, academic, corporate, and public service experience. She currently serves as a Full Clinical Professor at the University of California Riverside School of Medicine and a Professor at Loma Linda School of Medicine. She also holds an appointment as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she contributes to global education and research initiatives. 

Dr. Gupta earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, followed by residency training in anesthesiology from Georgetown University and a fellowship in pain medicine at Johns Hopkins.. She also holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from Rutgers University and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from Princeton University, where she specialized in domestic and international health policy.

Dr. Gupta has held multiple high-impact leadership roles in both academia and government. She previously served as Vice Chair and Associate Professor at Drexel University College of Medicine and served as a Co-Chair on the Opioid Task Force for the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Her public service includes appointments with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and the U.S. Department of Defense among others. 

An internationally recognized expert in pain management and health innovation, Dr. Gupta has been a fellow at the World Economic Forum and a recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Award. Her scholarly work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and covered in major media outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, and Forbes. She is also a four time Oxford University Press author of books on women’s health, pain, pharmacology, and anesthesiology. 

Fluent in English and Hindi, Dr. Gupta is a passionate advocate for health innovation, global health, and the advancement of health policy through interdisciplinary collaboration.
