Dr. Aleksandra Drecun is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience providing psychological services across diverse populations. She is the founder and CEO of the Association for Compassionate Transformation, Inc., a San Diego–based practice where she provides psychological evaluations, psychotherapy, forensic assessments, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and consulting services. Her work emphasizes culturally competent care, trauma-informed treatment, and the integration of empirically validated therapeutic approaches.
Dr. Drecun earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside in 2000, where she graduated with a 3.9 GPA and was recognized on the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Honor Lists. She went on to complete her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2002, followed by her Psy.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University’s California School of Professional Psychology in Irvine in 2005. Her dissertation explored therapists’ perceptions and adherence to policies regarding family secrets, and she passed her Psy.D. qualifying exam with distinction.
Throughout her career, Dr. Drecun has held clinical and advisory roles with organizations including Sterling Medical Group, Network Medical Review Company, First Choice Evaluations, R3 Continuum, Ree Medical, and Veterans Educating Veterans. She is also listed in the National Football League Players Association Wellness Directory, where she provides therapy and consultation to current and former NFL athletes. Her expertise extends to independent medical and forensic competency evaluations, disability and impairment assessments, violence risk evaluations, and psychological consulting for high-demand professionals.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Drecun has extensive teaching experience. She has served as faculty at MiraCosta College, Miramar College, Mt. San Antonio College, Palomar College, and California Baptist University, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, abnormal psychology, lifespan development, psychodiagnostics, and human sexuality. She has also delivered professional lectures and workshops on topics including trauma, parenting, clinical interventions, and diversity in psychotherapy.
Dr. Drecun is an active member of the American Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and multiple other professional organizations. Fluent in English and Serbo-Croatian, she continues to advance her mission of providing compassionate, evidence-based psychological care and education that supports resilience and wellbeing in individuals, families, and communities.
