Introduction

Richard R. Jacobs, MD, is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology. He has over 28 years of practice experience, is an expert in Novalis/Brainlab Stereotactic Body Therapy, and Hypofractionated Radiation Therapy, with clinical interests in Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy, Prostate Moderate Hypofractionation Radiation Therapy. Dr. Jacobs most recently was the Chief of the Department of Radiation Oncology at VA Saint Louis Health Care System in St. Louis. As the head of radiation oncology since 2012, he facilitated the establishment of a high quality, academic level program providing state of the art radiation therapy and overall oncologic care to the nation’s veterans with cancer. Dr. Jacobs was also the Team Leader for the Comprehensive Cancer Care Project; Chairperson for the Cancer Task Force and Program Administrator for the Commission on Cancer. He was also a member of the VA Prostate Moderate Hypofractionation Task Force. Additionally, Dr. Jacobs is a Radiation Oncology Physician Clinical Reviewer for NIA Magellan/Magellan Healthcare. Dr. Jacobs’ contributions to the field have also included serving patients through Nevada Cancer Institute, and the James J. Peters VA Medical Center, where he was Chief of those services. He received his doctor of medicine in 1985 from the Rosalind Franklin Univ. of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School, in North Chicago, IL, and conducted post graduate training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine affiliated hospitals. Dr. Jacobs is currently licensed in AZ, FL, IA, IL, IN, MN, MO, NJ, NY, OH, WI, and WV. He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is also member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology. Dr. Jacobs is Assistant Clinical Professor of the Department of Radiation Oncology in the School of Medicine of Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, MO
