John is a Marine Engineer with over thirty years of professional experience both at sea and ashore. He has been a Chief Engineer on Steam and Motor Vessels of unlimited Horsepower. He has also been a Port Engineer, Technical Superintendent and Fleet Manager for shipping companies. He has performed several re-flagging and change of Class procedures for vessels operating under the US Maritime Security Program.
John has significant experience in the new construction and oversight of marine equipment and systems, including shipyards throughout the world, overseeing newbuilds, retrofits, commissioning, drydockings, and surveys. He is an expert at Failure Mode Effect Analysis and Dynamic Positioning for offshore installations of all types and sizes. John possesses an extensive technical background in marine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, HVAC, and automation.
John earned his degree in marine engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. In the 1980's he sailed as Chief Engineer for SeaLand Shipping Company at the age of 28. He is a member of several professional marine organizations and has completed many advanced training programs.
