Dr. Deacon has served as the Medical Director of the renowned Ridley-Tree Center for Wound Management at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital for over a decade. The center sees over 14,000 wound visits per year, has exceptional healing rates placing it in the top 5% of wound care centers in the USA, and has won numerous awards including being one of the few centers in the nation to have Disease Specific Certification in Wound Care by The Joint Commission. In addition, Dr. Deacon is the Medical Director for the inpatient wound service of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and established one of the earliest physician led inpatient wound consult services in California. He is a Certified Wound Specialist Physician by the American Board of Wound Management in addition to being Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. He has been providing consultations as a wound care expert since 2009 with dozens of clients including plaintiffs and defendants. Dr. Deacon has testified as a wound care expert in numerous depositions. He has testified as an expert witness at trial for both plaintiffs and defendants, including in civil and criminal court. He has provided expert consultation on cases involving hospitals, nursing facilities, board and care facilities, home health agencies, physicians, nurses, CNAs, nurse practitioners, podiatrists and physical therapists. Dr. Deacon has reviewed cases involving pressure ulcers, arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers, bone infection, retained foreign bodies and dressings, post surgical wounds, wound related sepsis, burns, and others. Dr. Deacon has been retained by clients in multiple states and in federal court.
