Introduction

Mr. Krall is a Senior Mechanical/Safety/Forensic Engineer with lifetime career experience in engineering design and testing of commercial motor vehicles (CMV); safety research, legislation, and regulations; truck accident data collection and analysis; and government/industry liaison. Krall has provided expert technical counsel/testimony to address vehicle safety-defect allegations in the following truck design & crash performance areas: brakes (analyzed/responded to 100+ NHTSA/FMVSS-121 rulemaking notices); cab crashworthiness/rollover; cab ingress/egress; driver environment/ergonomics; driver direct and indirect visibility; fuel system integrity, i.e.; fuel-fed fires; vehicle lighting/conspicuity; rear-side vehicle under-ride; cargo retention; truck size/weight design configurations/regulations; back-over accidents; OSHA Stds. for Construction Industry (29 CFR Part 1926) and for General Industry (29 CFR Part 1910); and comprehensive analysis of nationwide U.S. work-zone accidents as reported in the following ATRI publication: Safety by Design: Optimizing Highway Safety in Work Zones

Krall has provided expert testimony of his findings to the U.S. Congress & governmental agencies; various trucking industry forums; International technical/policy forums; and accident litigation proceedings. One of these papers “Four Decades of Truck Safety Progress” provides an overview of Krall’s long-term career in truck engineering; safety research; vehicle regulations; gov’t/industry liaison; pioneering development of truck accident data-collection and analysis programs; trial consultant/forensic expert, etc.
