Introduction

I am a nationally- and internationally-recognized expert in wind damage to trees and forests. My degrees are a B.S. in 1985 in Biology and Environmental Science from Taylor University; and a Ph.D. in 1992 in Forest Ecology from Rutgers University. I have been conducting research into wind damage to trees and forests for > 25 years, and have published > 50 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. I am currently full professor in the Department of Plant Biology at University of Georgia. I have conducted wind damage research in Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Connecticut, and California. I am one of only 3 or 4 researchers in the U.S. to conduct static winching tests to investigate wind resistance in trees.
