David Satter is an expert on Russia, including Russian politics, society and the Russian legal system. He is a former Moscow correspondent for the London Financial Times and special correspondent on Soviet affairs for The Wall Street Journal. He has written about Russia for more than 30 years and has an extensive network of contacts inside the country. He has written two books about Russia, Age of Delirium: the Decline and Fall of the Soviet Union and Darkness at Dawn: the Rise of the Russian Criminal State. He has testified before Congress, including before the House Foreign Relations Committee and the House Committee on Financial Services and is frequently interviewed on radio and television in both Russian and English. He has testified as an expert witness in cases in Washington, D.C., Seattle, San Francisco and in the United Kingdom. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago and of Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
