He board-certified, licensed to practice medicine in Utah and Arizona, and maintains an active clinical practice in addition to his administrative and consulting responsibilities. He lectures nationally on correctional healthcare topics and is a well-known consultant in correctional, institutional, and public health arenas. He is one of the few physicians in the country to have achieved the Advanced Certification in Correctional Healthcare (CCHP-A) from the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare.
